PERSONAL
Roxette dikenal sebagai grup musik duo asal Swedia yang beranggotakan Per Gessle
(vokal) dan Marie Fredriksson (vocal, gitar). Grup musik ini dibentuk tahun 1986 dengan mengusung genre pop.
Sebelum membentuk grup duo, masing-masing mereka memang adalah artis di Swedia. Frederiksson pernah merilis album solo dan Gessle adalah vokalis dan penulis lagu untuk Gyllene Tider yang telah merilis tiga buah album. Keduanya kemudian digabung oleh manager label rekaman mereka dan membuahkan satu lagu, Neverending Love yang menjadi tembang hit di Swedia.
KARIR
Duo ini jadi terkenal pada akhir tahun 1980an setelah merilis album terobosan mereka, LOOK SHARP!, bersamaan dengan suksesnya album ketiga mereka JOYRIDE. Roxette kemudian berhasil masuk dalam jajaran UK Top 40 serta US Hot 100.
Lagu-lagu mereka yang menjadi jawara dalam berbagai macam tangga lagu dunia antara lain The Look, Listen to Your Heart, It Must Have Been Love, dan Joyride. Termasuk juga beberapa lagu seperti Dangerous, Fading Like a Flower, dan Dressed for Success.
Setelah merilis DON'T BORE US, GET TO THE CHORUS! yang menjadi album terbaik mereka, duo ini kemudian vakum sejak pertengahan tahun 1990an, sebelum akhirnya muncul lagi dengan album HAVE A NICE DAY (1999) dan ROOM SERVICE (2001).
Pada tahun 2002, Roxette berhenti rekaman dan tur karena Frederiksson divonis menderita tumor otak. Gessle kemudian merilis solo albumnya dan kembali bergabung dengan Gyllene Tider, sebelum akhirnya grup duo ini kembali tampil pada tahun 2009, setelah 8 tahun vakum.
Tahun 2011 mereka merilis CHARM SCHOOL, album pertama mereka setelah 10 tahun tidak pernah rekaman. Lagu mereka It Must Have Been Love dan Listen To Your Heart masih saja diputar di banyak stasiun radio. Kedua single tersebut menerima penghargaan dari BMI karena diputar lebih dari 4 juta kali di radio-radio.
Mereka berhasil menjual lebih dari 60 juta album di seluruh dunia dengan 10 juta sertifikat dari Jerman, Amerika, dan Inggris, termasuk sertifikat gold dan platinum untuk album JOYRIDE dan LOOK SHARP! di ketiga negara tersebut.
Tahun 2012 mereka menggelar tur di Indonesia pada tanggal 3 Maret. Konser mereka digelar di Mata Elang International Stadium, Jakarta.
